Kettlebell classes for children
In our busy lifestyle, children do not often have the opportunity to play and run outside or get involved in sport. Much of their day is spent in school behind a desk and then at home in front of the TV or computer. Getting our kids more physically active allows them to cope better with the day to day demands that life places on them. Physical activity helps to stimulate the blood flow and increase mental capacity. The Kids Kettlebell program is designed as a fun session for children from the age of six. Our philosphy is to get the kids more active, improve their physical capabilities in a fun safe environment, while you do your workout. Working with kettlebells will help to improve their fucntional movement and functional strength. This in turn is going to help them support their own bodies better. It will improve their athleticism, increase their stamina and allow them to blow off some steam. Our programs are simple, using a large variety of equipment, such as hula hoops, skipping ropes, balls, tyres, punch bags and light kettlebells. We recommend that they join us once or twice a week for a half hour of fun. Our program is progressive, starting with really simple easy exercises allowing the childrent o become familiar with their own bodies and the kettlebells. We want to encourage the children to do physical exercise without being fearful. We want to equip them to be successful. We are going to build lower body strength and co-ordination before doing anything more complex. Children will be encouraged to take part in all the activities. Parents must remember that children normally know the boundaries of their own bodies. They instinctively know when enough is enough – so do not pressure them too much. If you feel they are just slacking off because they are lazy offer them lots of encouragement.
No child will be force to do anything that they are uncomfortable with. We will encourage the children to participate. For the over achievers, we will make sure that they are carefully monitored so that they do only what they are capable of. |
