Kettle Belly success Story

Erica Duplessis and Claire Baty with their kettlebabes

I joined Kettlebells for Africa in February 2006.  I had just had my second child and had a few kilo's to shed that just would not shift.  The results that I achieved by attending three classes a week ensured that I was officially hooked on Kettlebell Training.

In 2008 I fell pregnant with my 3rd child.  I was determined that this pregnancy I would make an effort to exercise all the way through.  From the time I found out that I was pregnant and informed the instructors, they provided me with the techniques that I would need to use during my pregnancy.  I trained 3 times a week right up until 37 weeks of pregnancy.  Not once did I feel that I was overdoing it, or even exhausted.  I loved the training with my "little one" always kicking during our cool down!.

In total I put on 20kg during my pregnancy ( with the first two it was way over 20kgs each time)  The results of training during my pregnancy came almost immediately after Having Jess.  When Jesse was 4 weeks old I went back to Kettlebells and within 2 months (of only 3 classes a week and no dieting) I managed to lose my 20kg's,and fit back in my old clothes with a total loss of 30cm from my pregnancy measurement.  My fitness levels amazed me and I lost no muscle tone during my time off.

I would recommend Kettlebell training during pregnancy.  The instructors at Kettlebells for Africa were fantastic and always had mine and the baby's wellbeing at heart, knowing which exercises I could do and which I should avoid.  I also used lighter weights during my pregnancy but was back to my normal weights within a month of returning.  (Erica Du Plessis)
